Any home improvement project requires multitasking. And in Melvin Recinos’ case, he’s also balancing a day job as a foreman at a 250-person landscaping construction company that does jobs including concrete work, landscaping, landscape maintenance, and fencing, while his own clients don’t mind waiting for him to get to their home improvement projects on weekends because they just want Melvin for the job they need to get done.
Melvin doesn’t mind that his whole life is about multitasking because he loves this work. He’s found that this is his gift and passion in life and he enjoys doing good work and helping others.
Melvin moved here from Guatemala at 17 and has been doing this type of work for more than 21 years. Many of the people where he’s from work in this field, so when he came here some of the people he knew worked at his current company. They got him a job as a laborer and after working two short years, he became a foreman. He likes being a foreman because a lot of people want to make changes, like putting in a patio or landscaping, and he’s able to help theme with their vision.
“That’s my talent, that’s my passion,” he says, adding he enjoys continually learning at his day job, where he gets to not only see the overall plan given to him, but he enjoys turning it into reality.
